Here at the University Center- Rapid City, we are committed to helping you achieve your educational goals. Throughout the year, we will be hosting various Student Success Workshops on topics that will help you succeed in your goal of graduating with your degree or certificate. Job Search Workshops:
Do you need help getting started or need an extra pair of eyes looking over your cover letter and resume? Do you need help with how to navigate the spring job fairs? These workshops are designed to help make the job search less stressful and more successful!

The Center will feature two Coffee Chats a semester with different individuals or groups for students to learn more about the Center and the services offered to them. Below is a schedule of the different topics that will be covered during the Coffee Chats:

Are you interested in joining a student organization here at the University Center? Are you interested in an organization that we don't currently have at the center and want to know how to start one? Do you just want to get involved with life at the Center? Stop by this informal session held in the Atrium to learn more about opportunities to get involved at the Center!WebAdvisor 101:
Wednesday, October 23rd, 3 pm in Room 106:
Do you know how to use your WebAdvisor? Can you register for classes, check your grades, print an unofficial transcript, pay your bill, get your tax information and a whole host of other options? If you said no to any one of these things, then this workshop is just for you. Stop by room 106, the PC Computer Lab, at 3 pm for an overview of everything WebAdvisor can do for you!Thinking About Grad School:
Wednesday, November 13th, 3 pm in Room 125:
Is grad school something you are thinking about but aren't sure how to go about searching for a program, applying, taking entrance exams or any number of other things? This session will feature current graduate faculty, admissions staff and Center staff who will be there to answer questions about the application process, searching for a program and what to expect out of the classes and professors once you have been accepted. This session will be held in room 125 beginning at 3:00 pm on November 13th.Scholarship Searches, Essays/Applications and Financial Aid:
Wednesday, November 20th, 3 pm in Room 127:
Do you know how to find free money for college? How about writing that essay for a scholarship application? Are you still confused on how to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)? This workshop will help address all of these topics and will feature financial aid and writing experts to provide the information. The session will be held in room 125 beginning at 3 pm on November 20th. Own Your Digital Profile:
Wednesday, February 12th, 3 pm in Room 106:
Have you Googled yourself lately? Are you surprised at what comes up? This session is aimed at helping you take control of your digital profile, from Facebook to LinkedIn to that blog you forgot about from 5 years ago. Make sure that what is on the web correctly portrays who you are to the world. This session will be held at 3 pm, with the location TBA.
CAAP (Proficiency) Test Review Session:
Monday, October 28th, 3-6 pm in room 113
Monday, March 17th, 3-6 pm in room 113
Instructors from the four areas of the test, Writing Skills, Reading, Science, and Math, will be on hand to help students prepare for the upcoming CAAP test, which will be held on Saturday, November 2nd and Saturday, March 22nd. If you are required to take the CAAP test or retake portions of it, you should consider attending this review session
